Our Year 6 children have had an amazing final week in primary school, beginning with their hugely entertaining assembly and concluding with this morning’s farewell service in Holy Trinity.

Yesterday, the children all dressed up and had a great time as they jogged around the field during the, now traditional, ‘Pyjama Jump Run’.

The Y6 children’s parents, family members, friends and colleagues were asked to support this event by making a contribution to support the work of St John’s Hospice.

Incredibly, we received donations totalling £1045 – all of which has already been given to the Hospice. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed and thanks to the Y6 children who really had a good time!

We’re a “Cool School“!

On Wednesday afternoon, Danny Matthews from The Bay Radio’s breakfast show arrived in schoolto interview staff and children for a feature as ‘Cool School of the Week’.

We understand that we will feature on the Breakfast Show at 7.50am every day, week commencing 4 September 2017.

Teddy Bears Picnic

We enjoyed our annual Teddy Bears Picnic at lunchtime on Wednesday. All the children who enjoyed a school picnic were given a raffle ticket and the chance to win a lovely new teddy.

Congratulations to Elisha, the holder of lucky ticket number 40, who was the winner of the teddy.

Arrangements next year

Parents will know that we will have 11 classes in school next year (we currently have 10). This will help us to reduce the number of children in KS2 classes and reduce the number of mixed-age classes.

This plan is dependent on the construction of a new classroom on the patio area. This project is underway and the governors are working with Diocesan fundholders to ensure that we have an affordable high-quality outcome.

We are advised that our new teaching space will most likely be available for use from January 2018 – although there are still some issues to manage for the governors.

In the interim, we have had a re-organisation of school to enable us to have 11 classes from September. The staffroom has been returned to its former use as a classroom and Class 5, taught by Miss Garnett, will be taught there.

Class 5 children will use the hall doors to enter and exit the school from September.

Have a great summer!

As we break for the summer holiday, all of us at school thank you for your support during this school year and we hope that you all have a great summer holiday.

School will re-open for children on Monday 4 September 2017.
