Bolton le Sands School – Welcome to Summer Term

Welcome to the summer term!

In spite of the weather, the summer term has begun and it was great to welcome the children back to school on Monday morning.

The teachers have planned a great range of lessons for your children and this term’s curriculum newsletters are now posted on the school’s website.

This half term our worship focus is The Fruits of the Spirit as shared by St Paul in his letter to the Galatians.

We are currently finalising a list of key dates for this term and these will be shared via the BLS Bulletin very soon.

This term’s clubs

Before the Easter holidays, the School Council surveyed the children to find out what clubs they would like to experience in school. We offer a wide variety of clubs already but it is good to refresh to provision we make.

This term’s clubs therefore offer more opportunities for the younger children as well as new clubs, including a cartoon club and a film club.

Please click here to view this term’s clubs. Remember to act quickly because some of the clubs have limited availability.

Reception classes for September 2018

Lancashire Local Authority will be issuing offers for primary school places for September 2018 on Monday next week (16 April). Applicants for places will need to consider the offer and respond accordingly – the email (or letter) that parents receive contains all the relevant information.

SIAMS inspection

The school was inspected using the SIAMS framework two weeks before we finished for the Easter holiday. Mrs Hallows, the inspector, has completed her report and has asked us to share it widely. The report confirms our previous inspection judgement of Outstanding overall and the report contains many very positive features.

Class 4

Class 4 presented a fabulous performance assembly to parents and carers this afternoon (Friday).

The main theme was Peter Rabbit and exploring. The children acted, sang and shared their learning really well. There was even a spot of community singing!

Well done to all the children and to Mr Dixon and Miss Bateman, it was a super way to end the week.

PS A special ‘well done’ to Joseph who stepped up to the role of Peter Rabbit at the last minute due to the ill health of the original child selected.

The FOBLES are constantly trying to find ways of raising money and offering a range of fun activities for children and adults alike. The Easter Bunny Drive was a great success and now we have planned a Family Quiz to be held at The Lodge on Thursday 26 April, starting at 5.30pm. Teams of up to 6 people (any combination of adults/children) are invited along. £5 per team with a 1st prize of £30, 2nd prize of £20 and 3rd prize of £5.

All competitors will be given a chip butty!

Arrive from 5.00pm, quiz to start at 5.30pm.

Parents and carers should have received a letter containing all the relevant information. Click here to view a poster of the event.

No need for child minders, come along and have a lovely time!

100 Club results for the Easter Term

A draw has been made, using a random number generator, to identify winners of the two £50 prizes for the Easter Term.

The winning numbers were 91 and 97; the owners of the winning tickets have been notified.

Year 5 residential visit to Ambleside

Our Year 5 children will be visiting the Lake District for a 2-day, 1-night residential visit on 3 and 4 May.

An information meeting for parents and carers will be held on Thursday 19 April at 5.30pm in the school hall. Parents of the Y5 children are encouraged to come along to find out more and ask any questions that they may have.
