You might have already heard about our lottery bid, the leaking roof and the major Holy Trinity fundraising project. Well it’s now got a name – ‘Raise the roof, open the door’.
What’s it all about?
People have been coming together on the site of Holy Trinity for more than nine hundred years: here people have been welcomed, children baptised, couples married and we’ve said goodbye to family and friends. Now our church is in need of some TLC. If we don’t pay her attention soon, she may not be here for future generations. As well as repairing the roof, we want to encourage more people to come into Holy Trinity.
We’ve secured Heritage Lottery funding for the following work:
Repair the roof following the theft of lead from the main roof gutter
Make interim repairs to the tower roof
Modernise the main entrance porch to improve access and make the church warmer
Create an exhibition of artefacts and engage the community to help appreciate our heritage
We are working towards making church a warm and dry place of worship, returning it to be a keystone in our community. Please feel free to pop into church to have a look at the work taking place.
The contractors Lloyd and Smith have worked very hard to make the church as safe and accessible as possible. Due to their hard work the church is still able to be used for all of its usual services and will be open throughout the day as usual.
Our Appeal Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we thank you for this place where your people have met to pray and worship you for so many generations. Help us now in our generation to be faithful to their legacy, to raise a roof on your house to your glory and to open the door to welcome all your people in. We ask this in the Name of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
