Blackburn Diocese Ordains 22 new priests and deacons
A total of 22 new Priests and Deacons are all set to celebrate embarking on a new phase of their lives, as a weekend of ordination/welcome services for our County approaches.
Prior to the weekend the ordinands go on retreat at our Centre for Christian Prayer and Discipleship at Whalley Abbey and today (Wednesday) they came together with their families for a special lunch at Bishop’s House.
You can see some pictures from today’s lunch here and also on our social channels, where you will also find a short new video from Bishop Philip about the ordinations.
And all this week on our social channels we have also been active promoting the weekend and the faith stories of those being ordained.
This has included videos on Facebook and YouTube featuring a representative four of our ordinands (one going live each day, Monday to Thursday) where they talk, often quite movingly, in more detail about their journey to this point in their lives.
You should also start to see further coverage in the local media of this important moment in the annual calendar of our Diocese, including – we hope – BBC Radio Lancashire. Time permitting the regional station hopes to cover the ordinations on their Sunday morning faith programme this weekend from 6-10am (or after on BBC Sounds).
Premier Christian Radio is also using the audio from our social media videos for special reports which will air at 2.15pm and 4.20pm tomorrow (Thursday).
Meanwhile, to help you get to know all the ordinands, and for your prayers, pictures of each alongside links to a short biography and ‘questions and answers’ are all here on the Diocesan website. On that page you will also find details of all the services; where they are taking place; livestream links if available and more.
