Volunteers have continued to work clearing brash following coppicing.  New deer fencing has been put up round the two sites worked on by the canal.  It is hoped that the work done will encourage new growth to last for forty years before another similar exercise has to be done.  It is also hoped that ground cover will regenerate this year, bringing back some of the flowers which have not been seen for the last few years.  We used to have some early purple orchids in the larger area.
