What we do

site_imagery_workingshot_May_cashpointCanine Partners is a registered charity that transforms the lives of people with physical disabilities by partnering them with assistance dogs. Our amazing dogs bring a greater independence and quality of life to their partners, offering security, companionship, and practical help with everyday household tasks. These life-changing dogs also provide psychological and social benefits including increased independence, confidence, social interaction and self-esteem.

We rely on donations and legacies to fund the creation of our life-transforming partnerships.

This is Carmen.  Wendy Hilling, one of our parishioners would die if Carmen was not there to support her.  Wendy has a condition that can affect her breathing.  If Carmen was not there to wake her up she could stop breathing which would be fatal.  Carmen has her own phone to dial 999 is she needs to. Carmen also helps her with many of the everyday activities that need doing round the house…Peter, her husband, is also an integral part of this marvellous team.  Carmen alerts Peter if there are any problems.

Carmen is the proud recipient of an award from the PDSA.

You can hear Wendy on Radio Lancashire on 28th February on the “Sharon Hartley” programme in the morning between 10 and 12.

Wendy has written a book about her life with “Ted” her previous dog “”My Life in His Paws” and another book “The Girl with the Golden Paws”.  Click HERE for more details.
