CORONATION MEMORIES.
Saturday 6th May was the climax of a momentous amount of work not only in London and other towns and cities but also at Holy Trinity, Bolton-le-Sands.
Saturday mornning the coronation was relayed into church for all those working on the set-up. Flower Team, Construction Team, Glebe Field Team and Royal Ted all joined in the festivities with coffee and cake.
The afternoon kicked off with “Royal Ted” coming down the zip-wire from the church tower. This was followed by over 80 other teddies. Each one had a health check before the breath-taking experience and received a certificate on their safe landing.
Celebrations continued in the Glebe Field with over 100 people enjoying a picnic and other refreshments. Egg sandwiches, pork pies, quiche and cakes were there in abundance. There was also a barbecue and music.
A shower of rain dampened the enthusiasm briefly but we just “upped sticks” and continued the party into the early evening in church.
Thank you to everyone for taking part and a special thanks to everyone who helped with the organisation, making it a royal occasion.
Watch out for next years “Teddy Bears Picnic” in May 2024.
