Hello again,
I am writing to you because you have expressed an interest in Lyrics and Lunch (or Lyrics and Laughter) in the past, or because you run or have run a group along similar lines. Lyrics and Lunch creates community for people living with dementia and their carers through musical memories and fun and enjoying a nutritious lunch (or tea and cake) together.
We know that finance can be an issue for some churches in setting up a group and we now have a limited number of grants available to set up new groups. If you are still interested but struggling with the start up cost we would like to invite you to consider applying for one. The initiative is funded by the Power of Music Foundation specifically to reach people living with dementia and their carers with the joy of music. Please contact me to express interest as soon as possible. There are only a limited number available.
Do let me know if you are interested in applying or in finding out more. To remind yourself what we do you can also have a look at our website www.lyricsandlunch.org.

You can also apply for £100 towards any extras you may need, such as tablecloths, percussion instruments, crockery or kitchen equipment. Of course the Power of Music Fund requires that we account for how effective the grants have been in expanding our work and reaching more people living with dementia and carers, so new groups who wish to apply for this package need to agree to:
1. Join the Lyrics and Lunch Network, receive training and start their group as soon as possible within a reasonable timeframe (we suggest maximum 3 months.)
2. Follow good Safeguarding practice for team (your church should already have planned procedures for this but we can help and advise.)
3. Their group will need to meet twice a month as a minimum* (every week is better if you can manage that)
4. They will run the group for at least a year
5. Agree to send us information every month about the numbers of people you are reaching and agree to have a support phone call or visit from us every two months.
6. You will also need to provide photos and feedback from guests (with their permission for photos of course.)
*There may be special circumstances in which we will accept a group proposing to meet monthly; talk to us for details.
Please let us know if you would like to know more, and we will be happy to hear from you.
