Claver Hill Growing Project

Tucked away in the North-East of Lancaster, Claver Hill Farm embodies the harmonious beauty that emerges when human activity aligns with nature, seamlessly intertwining to create a landscape of unparalleled serenity. Part of the ‘Growing Food & Community’ Food Futures theme, Claver Hill has been growing since 2013. This community farm has cultivated both agricultural produce and a profound sense of community spirit, and is of vital importance to the nearby residents, providing an effortless escape from modern-day stresses.

Do you love nature?  Does growing and eating fresh fruit and veg sound delicious?  Would you like to meet people with similar interests and learn new skills?  Then come visit Claver Hill.  Ridge Lane, Lancaster  LA1 3JY.

Back in August 2013 Claver Hill was a rutted farm field.  No diversity of nature, the soil was dead.  The site has been transformed.  Try to imagine a series of ponds and water channels, a copse of native deciduous trees, birds chattering, insects buzzing, and all manner of tasty veg growing.  To complete the picture, friendly people sharing the work of caring for the land.

Everyone takes home fresh seasonal fruit, veg, herbs, and flowers.  We swap recipes and practice preserving, apple juicing, seed saving, coppicing, and more.

You can wander along the wild nature trail or cruise the accessible path to explore the wonders of nature.  To find out more visit our website.  Kathy Barton will be organising a walk in the spring of 2027.
