The concept of “Lyrics and Lunch” has been going for a number of years. “Lyrics and Lunch” is a network of friendly singing and lunch groups which creates community for those living with dementia and their carers. They share fun, food and friendship in a relaxed and comfortable setting.
The meeting was well attended with 20 people from the village and 4 representatives from “Lyrics and Lunches”.
Whilst there is a good case for progressing this initiative all the resources needed to support it have yet to come forward. There needs to be:
1) a good leadership team
2) a musical team
3) a catering team capable of providing a simple soup and sandwich lunch for a minimum of at least a dozen participants and their carers,
4) funding.
