A Message from the new Vicar.

Peter’s Easter Message – 17th April 2022

Greetings to you all, and a Happy Easter!

This is a special day on many levels. It’s great to be reminded that when I talk to Jesus – as I do every day – I am not praying to some kind of historical figure who died 2000 years ago. I am talking to the One who lives and reigns for ever, who has power over all darkness and death. That is still remarkable news today, and it is what makes our faith a living faith.

Next Sunday will be a special day as well, but for different reasons. The Easter season is one of new beginnings, and after many weeks of anticipation the moment is finally arriving when I am licensed as your vicar and will begin my ministry with Holy Trinity and St Mark’s. I am very much looking forward to it.

It has been ten days since the removal vans showed up at the vicarage, and since then it has been strange looking across at the church but not taking part in all the events of Holy Week and Easter. It has been right to focus on the home and the family during this little gap that we have, with the unpacking and the DIY jobs seeming to be endless! We are feeling increasingly settled here, and I hope next week to get things as straight as possible at home so I can focus on my work within the parish after the 24th.

Isaac and Florence start at new schools on Tuesday, which is another big step for our family. Your prayers for them are appreciated.

Thank you to everyone who has offered us such a warm welcome. We have been flooded with cards and good wishes, which has been very touching. There are clearly a lot of lovely people here.

With my love and prayers,

Peter

Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion – it is a daily process whereby you grow to be more and more like Christ.

Billy Graham

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.
